Elizabeth is a self-taught baker with an Associates and Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She learned to bake at the age of 12. Her Aunt Marilyn owned The Pie Pantry in Belleville, IL from the 70s80s. Elizabeth used to clear dishes from tables and fold napkins for Aunt Marilyn’s chocolate mousse and Mentos. Lizzie Bob’s is a combination of her and her husband’s names. The business started in 2013 with selling a loaf of banana bread at a farmers market stand. After that, custom cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and cookies were ordered through a Facebook business page. The following year, Lizzie Bob’s doubled their revenue by attending vendor shows, joining network groups, and the local Chamber of Commerce. The small licensed home kitchen was updated to include an entire work area just for the bakery in 2015. Elizabeth started taking culinary classes, decorating classes, and sugar art classes through a local pastry chef. By 2016, Lizzie Bob’s was looking for their first retail location. Bob would quit his government job a month before opening the retail store in 2016 to work side by side with Elizabeth. Elizabeth and Bob invested their savings and obtained a small loan to pay for startup costs for the retail location. Elizabeth is known for her pies, homemade jumbo cinnamon rolls, pecan sticky buns, scones, and custom cakes. Bob is the bread baker, making 5 kinds of homemade yeast breads. Lizzie Bob’s Sweets From Scratch is growing. The E-commerce store will launch online early 2018 selling 16oz tubs of their homemade buttercream, cookie trays, and cupcakes by the dozen. According to the business plan, Lizzie Bob’s would like to expand their facility to ship nationwide and sell to local restaurants and food businesses.

I strive for excellence in customer service and do whatever it takes to ensure each and every item looks and tastes delicious. Every cake doesn’t have to be a show stopper. Sometimes a simple iced cake is perfect and elegant. I love receiving requests from clients asking for a cake or dessert that their grandmother or relative used to make. I then do my research and create what I think represents what they remember. While no one can ever replace grandma’s baking or cooking, I aim to create that nostalgic feeling that takes you back to that moment. Food brings people together and creates memories. What makes me most happy is getting photos and comments from my clients showing the smiles of everyone enjoying my sweets. That is what makes everything I do so important to me. It is the proverbial “Icing on the Cake.” I have a servants heart and strive to give 100% to everyone I meet. Honesty and integrity are an intricate part of my business and who I am as a person.
